  • Canine Parvovirus Outbreak in Washington State: Animal Critical Care and Emergency Services (ACCES) issued an alert about a Canine parvovirus outbreak in Washington State. Canine parvovirus (Parvo) is a highly contagious disease that is spread by contact with an infected dog’s feces. The virus can stay in the soil for up to five months. Parvo causes gastrointestinal tract damage, dehydration, and cardiac syndrome; the fatality rate is 80%. Parvo symptoms include lethargy, severe diarrhea, fever, vomiting, loss of appetite, and dehydration. Parvo is highly contagious. St. Martin's University Students created delicious human/dog treat recipes for our Tails and Tranquility class.
