Pet Food Bank

The CFA Pet Food Bank operates on Tuesdays from 4p.m. to 5p.m. Applicants must call the Programs Manager and qualify in order to receive pet food and supplies.

To request Pet Food Bank assistance, you must call the CFA Call Center and speak with the Programs Manager at (360) 456-8176 during business hours. All applicants must sign up by the preceding Monday at NOON for same week pick up. CFA is a non-profit organization and our ability to fund the Pet Food Bank is subject to availability. CFA reserves the right to deny assistance. We cannot guarantee pet food is available. Any inappropriate treatment to the CFA staff may result in termination of services. Thank you! 

Guidelines 2017

ELIGIBILITY: Concern for Animals (CFA) Food Bank offers temporary assistance to pet owners experiencing economic hardship.  A current photo I.D. is required each time, plus proof of low income as follows: Award letters or current paperwork will suffice for verification of SSD/SSI; Food Stamps; Major VA Disability; WIC; Section 8 Housing; TANF; Medicaid; Unemployment; Social Security; College student ID; Military ID; or other state/federal public assistance.

CFA will allow only one visit per year to someone experiencing financial hardship, without low income proof as follows: in between jobs, unexpected medical bills, single family, divorce or other circumstances. Pet owners will receive an adequate food supply; however, the Food Bank is not to be used as a permanent source of pet food. This program is to assist your family. All animals must be spayed or neutered.

Pick up times are Tuesdays at 4p.m. at Concern for Animals: 1414 State Avenue, Olympia (off Central Street and Olympic Drive).        

If a holiday falls on a Tuesday, the Food Bank will be open the following day. Only one (1) donation per household address is allowed. A valid picture ID such as a driver’s license is required; recipients cannot pick up donations for other people. A designated caregiver may pick up food on behalf of a pet owner by supplying a signed authorization letter and copy of owner’s picture ID.  Pet owners that are eligible for assistance may use the Food Bank no more than six (6) times per year and only one time per month. The recipient cannot acquire more animals while participating in this program. We reserve the right to refuse anyone under any circumstance. All recipient information is kept strictly confidential and not shared with any other organization. 

A copy of our detailed Food Bank Guidelines will be given to you the first time you visit the food bank.

The CFA Food Bank helps keep families together!  To help financially challenged families feed and keep their pets at home, our Food Bank needs the following supplies:

  • Dog/Puppy Food & Treats
  • Cat/Kitten Food & Treats
  • All Domestic Bird Food
  • Cat Litter - non-clumping (small bags preferred)
  • Bed, Blankets & Towels - in good condition
  • Dog & Cat Toys
  • Dog Houses - in good condition
  • Leashes & Collars
  • Pet Carriers & Crates - in good condition
  • Chicken, Rabbit and Guinea Pig Food

During the holidays, several businesses in our community hosted Food Drive bins to help animals in need! Thank you to the following businesses for their support:

Food Bank Donations from the Community

Thank you, Iilah, for accepting donations for your birthday in lieu of gifts! We so appreciate your generosity and compassion for animals and those in need! You are truly a spectacular little animal advocate!

Olympia Federal Savings hosted a Pet Food Drive for a whole week in June to benefit our animal Food Bank.  Customers brought in 265 pounds of food and donated $165 in cash.

   Thank you, Junior Girl Scout Troop 45181 for organizing a food drive and donating food to our Pet Food Bank! You girls rock!
  Thank you to our wonderful volunteers Mike & Becky Reavis for hosting a fundraiser cookout at their home in July to benefit three animal organizations. Their guests donated $155, plus an estimated value of $180 of food—resulting in 128 pounds. Guests also donated miscellaneous items like a dog collar and toys. Now, that’s a way to throw a party!
The Multiple Listing Sales Association invited CFA to speak at their weekly meeting and members donated $184 and 125 pounds of dog and cat food on May 21.
CFA would also like to acknowledge the Olympia Yacht Club and the Anchorettes for accepting donations from their members!

Food Bank Drive

Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 41128 of East Olympia who took profits from selling their cookies and bought dry and canned food, bedding, toys, and treats for our Pet Food Bank. We received 190 pounds of food!

Thank you to the Girl Scout Troop 40692, MudBay (West Olympia), Fluffy and Floyd's and everyone who donated to their Food Bank Drive!  CFA received 485 pounds of food, 94 cans and $50 in gift cards.

Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 40208, Diana McCutcheon and the Timberland Library for collecting a generous amount of food over the holidays.

Thank you to the McQueen family for donating food and many other items from Evan's 5th birthday party!  Thank you to the Summerville family for donating food, toys, blanket and cash from Jaden's 11th birthday party!
